National Oral Health Month at Enamel Dental

National Oral Health Month at Enamel Dental

April is National Oral Health Month. This national event, supported by the Canadian Dental Health Association, is an important cause to our entire team at Enamel Dental. Not only does National Oral Health Month promote better oral health, it also encourages Canadians to have a better quality of life.

Providing expert care that goes beyond our Penticton dental clinic is just one of the many reasons why Enamel Dental is a truly individual experience. Here are some great ways to celebrate National Oral Health Month with us!

National Oral Health Month: Healthy Habits

National Oral Health Month is all about educating and encouraging Canadians to take care of their mouth and teeth. Booking regular professional teeth cleanings are important, but they’re only a part of keeping your teeth healthy and happy. Taking proper care of your teeth between dental appointments is essential to keeping your teeth healthy.

Achieving healthy teeth takes a lifetime of care, proper technique, and the right oral health products. We recommend choosing a toothbrush with a smaller head which will help you reach the hard to clean areas of your mouth, and softer bristles that will be kinder to your gums. The way you brush is equally as important as what you use! Make sure you’re brushing for the full 2-3 minutes, twice a day!

National Oral Health Month: Prevention

Not only does good dental health ensure healthy teeth and gums, but it also lowers your risk of chronic disease! Many common oral health illnesses in Canada and worldwide, ranging from tooth decay and gum disease to oral cancer and oral diseasesare preventable.

Maintaining healthy oral habits, including daily brushing and flossing, can make a huge difference in prevention. National Oral Health Month is the perfect time to practice and educate Canadians about prevention.

We recognize that our dental practice has a crucial part in the fight against oral health illnesses including oral cancer. At Enamel Dental, we are committed to providing our patients with the best tools to protect you against oral cancer. Early detection significantly increases a patient’s chance of survival, and detection typically begins with a visit to your dentist.

If oral cancer is diagnosed, your dentist and doctor will create an individualized treatment plan based on a number of factors, including which stage of oral cancer you are diagnosed with.

You are never too old to have healthy teeth and gums! Regular visits to your Penticton Dental Clinic will ensure you have the tools to maintain healthy teeth and gums for your whole life.
